I have got a very demanding customer who has decided that whenever he adds a link to a page he wants to be able to add an image simply by doing ctrl-c in the image and ctrl-v in whatever field I'm going to provide for this purpose in the link class.

So what I want to do is somehow decode (or encode) a copied image into text, the way it is done when you paste an image into an email.
I will have to build some kind of an extension to do this but I am absolutely clueless. I am not asking that you solve this problem for me but can someone point me in the right direction? What should I read? Even some words I could google with would be useful...
